In March 2020, 8,500 registered bed nights were recorded in Meri-Lappi (-48.6 %), of which 5,400 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 3,100 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights decreased 47 percent and registered foreign bed nights decreased 51 percent. In total, registered bed nights decreased 49 percent from last year's March.
4,500 nights (-43.9 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 4,000 nights (-53.1 %) by business visitors.
Between January and March, 20,000 registered bed nights (-8.7 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 17,600 (-20.6 %) for foreigners in Meri-Lappi, in total 37,500 (-14.7 %) registered nights.
Registered bed nights statistics include stats for registered accommodations: hotels, motels, guest houses, hostels, holiday villages and campsites. Establishments with fewer than 20 beds or caravan lots with an electrical connection point are excluded.

Length of stay increased 14 percent in registered accommodation
Length of stay in registered accommodation increased 14 percent compared to earlier year. In Meri-Lappi, length of stay in March was on average 1.8 nights and in Finland 2.3 nights (+14.6 %).
During March, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Meri-Lappi on average 1.6 nights (-4.6 %) and foreigners 2.3 nights (+8.1 %).
4,700 tourists arrived to registered accommodation
Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased 55 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 70.6 percent were domestic, and 29.4 percent were from foreign countries.
During March, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Meri-Lappi on average 1.6 nights (+0.04) and foreigners 2.3 nights (+0.68).
