Registered bed nights increased 57 percent (March)

In March 2022, 13,500 registered bed nights were recorded in Mikkeli Region (+56.9 %), of which 12,700 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 780 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 53 percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 182 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 57 percent from last year's March.

Most foreign registered bed nights were recorded for travelers from Latvia (175 nights).

7,500 nights (+54.7 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 6,000 nights (+59.8 %) by business visitors.

Between January and March, 29,100 registered bed nights (+17.2 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 1,600 (+105.9 %) for foreigners in Mikkeli Region, in total 30,700 (+19.8 %) registered nights.

Total of 1.8 million registered bed nights (+105.0 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 1.4 million nights (+70.7 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 377,000 nights (+699.7 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Mikkeli Region out of total registered bed nights was 0.8 % (-0.2 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 0.9 % and foreign bed nights 0.2 %.

8,200 tourists arrived to registered accommodation (March)

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 98 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 96.8 percent were domestic, and 3.2 percent were from foreign countries.

During March, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Mikkeli Region on average 1.6 nights (-0.43) and foreigners 3.0 nights (-2.7).

Trips by Russian travelers over the eastern border increased 19 percent

A total of 31,300 Russians arrived in Finland over the eastern border crossings.

The share of southeastern border stations was 75.5 percent.
