15,200 registered bed nights

In January 2019, 15,200 bed nights were recorded in Mikkeli Region (-0.6 %), of which 9,700 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 5,400 nights by foreigners. Domestic bed nights decreased four percent and foreign bed nights increased five percent. In total, bed nights decreased one percent from last year's January.

49 nights (-99.4 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 51 nights (-99.2 %) by business visitors.

Total of 1.5 million bed nights (+1.1 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 869,000 nights (+1.5 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 675,000 nights (+0.6 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Mikkeli Region out of total bed nights was 1.0 % (-0.0 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 1.1 % and foreign bed nights 0.8 %.

8,000 tourists arrived to accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased five percent compared to earlier year. Of all arrivals, 77.3 percent were domestic, and 22.7 percent were from foreign countries.

During January, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Mikkeli Region on average 1.6 nights (+0.08) and foreigners 3.0 nights (-0.15).

Ferry arrivals from different harbors

262,000 Russian travelers via eastern border

A total of 262,000 Russians arrived in Finland over the eastern border crossings.

The share of southeastern border stations was 80.1 percent.

There was a total of 34,000 visa applications to Finland made by the Russians. 82.2 percent were done at St. Petersburg's consulate.
