16,600 registered bed nights

In September 2020, 16,600 registered bed nights were recorded in Mikkeli Region (-12.1 %), of which 14,200 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 2,400 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights decreased four percent and registered foreign bed nights decreased 40 percent. In total, registered bed nights decreased 12 percent from last year's September.

7,600 nights (-35.4 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 9,000 nights (+25.8 %) by business visitors.

Between January and September, 167,000 registered bed nights (-5.0 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 16,500 (-66.6 %) for foreigners in Mikkeli Region, in total 184,000 (-18.5 %) registered nights.

Market share 1.3 percent

Total of 1.2 million registered bed nights (-32.1 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 1.1 million nights (-12.4 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 92,200 nights (-82.1 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Mikkeli Region out of total registered bed nights was 1.3 % (+0.3 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 1.2 % and foreign bed nights 2.6 %.

7,500 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased 26 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 97.4 percent were domestic, and 2.6 percent were from foreign countries.

During September, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Mikkeli Region on average 1.9 nights (+0.26) and foreigners 12 nights (+9.5).

23,800 Russian travelers via eastern border

A total of 23,800 Russians arrived in Finland over the eastern border crossings.

There was a total of 610 visa applications to Finland made by the Russians. 60.7 percent were done at St. Petersburg's consulate.

Accommodation sales 824,000 euro

Registered accommodation sales in September were 824,000 euro (-200,000).

Registered January-September sales were 7.9 million euro and they decreased 2.2 million euro from the previous year.
