Registered bed nights increased 54 percent

In April 2022, 12,400 registered bed nights were recorded in Mikkeli Region (+53.9 %), of which 12,000 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 450 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 51 percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 240 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 54 percent from last year's April.

6,900 nights (+45.3 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 5,500 nights (+66.4 %) by business visitors.

Between January and April, 42,400 registered bed nights (+29.4 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 2,000 (+125.0 %) for foreigners in Mikkeli Region, in total 44,400 (+32.0 %) registered nights.

Market share 0.8 percent

Total of 1.6 million registered bed nights (+104.9 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 1.4 million nights (+89.6 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 220,000 nights (+313.9 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Mikkeli Region out of total registered bed nights was 0.8 % (-0.3 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 0.9 % and foreign bed nights 0.2 %.

7,300 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 80 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 97.4 percent were domestic, and 2.6 percent were from foreign countries.

During April, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Mikkeli Region on average 1.7 nights (-0.3) and foreigners 2.4 nights (-0.23).

Ferry arrivals from different harbors

Trips by Russian travelers over the eastern border increased 19 percent

A total of 31,300 Russians arrived in Finland over the eastern border crossings.

The share of southeastern border stations was 75.5 percent.

There was a total of 11,200 visa applications to Finland made by the Russians. 84.0 percent were done at St. Petersburg's consulate.

Accommodation sales 1.1 million euro

Total accommodation sales in April were 1.1 million euro (-5,400). The share of Airbnb and Vrbo was 42.0 percent. Therefore, registered accommodation sales were 634,000 euro (+224,000) and non-registered sales 458,000 euro (-229,000).

Total January-April sales were 3.9 million euro and they increased 118,000 euro from the previous year.
