55,600 registered bed nights

In July 2022, 55,600 registered bed nights were recorded in Mikkeli Region (-16.1 %), of which 48,900 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 6,700 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights decreased 19 percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 14 percent. In total, registered bed nights decreased 16 percent from last year's July.

47,800 nights (-16.2 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 7,800 nights (-15.5 %) by business visitors.

Between January and July, 133,000 registered bed nights (-3.4 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 12,200 (+53.2 %) for foreigners in Mikkeli Region, in total 146,000 (-0.3 %) registered nights.

Market share 1.7 percent

Total of 3.3 million registered bed nights (-3.4 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 2.7 million nights (-15.6 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 567,000 nights (+205.9 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Mikkeli Region out of total registered bed nights was 1.7 % (-0.3 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 1.8 % and foreign bed nights 1.2 %.

33,000 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased 15 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 93.8 percent were domestic, and 6.2 percent were from foreign countries.

During July, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Mikkeli Region on average 1.6 nights (-0.02) and foreigners 3.3 nights (-1.8).

Trips by Russian travelers over the eastern border increased 145 percent

A total of 85,100 Russians arrived in Finland over the eastern border crossings.

Russian visa applications increased 330 percent (June)

There was a total of 12,000 visa applications to Finland made by the Russians. 81.5 percent were done at St. Petersburg's consulate.

Accommodation sales 3.3 million euro

Total accommodation sales in July were 3.3 million euro (-444,000). The share of Airbnb and Vrbo was 23.6 percent. Therefore, registered accommodation sales were 2.5 million euro (-109,000) and non-registered sales 778,000 euro (-335,000).

Total January-July sales were 11.0 million euro and they decreased 365,000 euro from the previous year.
