Mikkeli: Tourism in a nutshell
2,900 registered bed nights
In April 2020, 2,900 bed nights were recorded in Mikkeli (-79.9 %), of which 2,500 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 320 nights by foreigners. Domestic bed nights decreased 79 percent and foreign bed nights decreased 84 percent. In total, bed nights decreased 80 percent from last year's April.
Most foreign bed nights were recorded for travelers from Estonia (250 nights).
740 nights (-90.6 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 2,100 nights (-66.7 %) by business visitors.
Between January and April, 28,300 bed nights (-35.1 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 6,600 (-39.3 %) for foreigners in Mikkeli, in total 34,900 (-36.0 %) nights.
Registered bed nights statistics include stats for registered accommodations: hotels, motels, guest houses, hostels, holiday villages and campsites. Establishments with fewer than 20 beds or caravan lots with an electrical connection point are excluded.

Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased 87 percent compared to earlier year. Of all arrivals, 98.1 percent were domestic, and 1.9 percent were from foreign countries.
During April, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Mikkeli on average 2.4 nights (+0.74) and foreigners 15 nights (+12).

Registered accommodation sales in April were 162,000 euro (-563,000).
Registered January-April sales were 2.0 million euro and they decreased 862,000 euro from the previous year.
