Total of 14,100 bed nights (-8.3 %) were recorded in paid accommodation in Mikkeli in December 2022. This figure includes bed nights at registered establishments as well as at AirBnB and Vrbo. The share of registered bed nights was 64 % and non-registered 36 %.
Between January and December, the number of paid bed nights was 264,000 (-7.2 %). Share of registered was 68 % and non-registered 32 %.
Registered bed nights statistics include stats for registered accommodations: hotels, motels, guest houses, hostels, holiday villages and campsites. Establishments with fewer than 20 beds or caravan lots with an electrical connection point are excluded. Non-registered bed nights statistics include bed nights from AirBnB and Vrbo.
Registered bed nights increased six percent
In December 2022, 9,000 registered bed nights were recorded in Mikkeli (+6.5 %), of which 8,500 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 560 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased five percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 36 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased six percent from last year's December.
Most foreign registered bed nights were recorded for travelers from Estonia (122 nights).
5,000 nights (-13.2 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 4,000 nights (+47.7 %) by business visitors.
Between January and December, 159,000 registered bed nights (-2.1 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 20,200 (+63.1 %) for foreigners in Mikkeli, in total 179,000 (+2.5 %) registered nights.

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased three percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 97.2 percent were domestic, and 2.8 percent were from foreign countries.
During December, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Mikkeli on average 1.5 nights (+0.02) and foreigners 3.3 nights (+0.75).

Total accommodation sales in December were 756,000 euro (+2,100). The share of Airbnb and Vrbo was 26.5 percent. Therefore, registered accommodation sales were 556,000 euro (+70,600) and non-registered sales 201,000 euro (-68,500).
Total January-December sales were 12.7 million euro and they decreased 72,900 euro from the previous year.
