In September 2019, 14,900 registered bed nights were recorded in Mikkeli (-8.7 %), of which 12,000 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 2,900 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights decreased eight percent and registered foreign bed nights decreased 11 percent. In total, registered bed nights decreased nine percent from last year's September.
Most foreign registered bed nights were recorded for travelers from Russia (920 nights).
8,300 nights (-3.9 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 6,600 nights (-14.2 %) by business visitors.
Between January and September, 134,000 registered bed nights (+2.0 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 35,300 (-6.5 %) for foreigners in Mikkeli, in total 170,000 (+0.1 %) registered nights.
Registered bed nights statistics include stats for registered accommodations: hotels, motels, guest houses, hostels, holiday villages and campsites. Establishments with fewer than 20 beds or caravan lots with an electrical connection point are excluded.

Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased 10 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 88.9 percent were domestic, and 11.1 percent were from foreign countries.
During September, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Mikkeli on average 1.6 nights (+0.01) and foreigners 3.1 nights (+0.24).

Trips by Russian travelers over the eastern border increased six percent

There was a total of 69,800 visa applications to Finland made by the Russians. 87.9 percent were done at St. Petersburg's consulate.

Registered accommodation sales in September were 872,000 euro (+32,200).
Registered January-September sales were 8.2 million euro and they increased 510,000 euro from the previous year.
