Registered bed nights increased 18 percent

In August 2022, 24,100 registered bed nights were recorded in Mikkeli (+18.2 %), of which 17,600 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 6,400 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights decreased less than one percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 140 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 18 percent from last year's August.

15,900 nights (+11.6 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 8,200 nights (+33.4 %) by business visitors.

Between January and August, 115,000 registered bed nights (-1.9 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 16,400 (+63.8 %) for foreigners in Mikkeli, in total 131,000 (+3.2 %) registered nights.

Market share 1.0 percent

Total of 2.3 million registered bed nights (+13.2 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 1.8 million nights (-1.6 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 561,000 nights (+114.7 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Mikkeli out of total registered bed nights was 1.0 % (0.0 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 1.0 % and foreign bed nights 1.1 %.

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased two percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 89.9 percent were domestic, and 10.1 percent were from foreign countries.

During August, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Mikkeli on average 1.5 nights (+0.04) and foreigners 5.0 nights (+0.79).

Accommodation sales 1.5 million euro

Total accommodation sales in August were 1.5 million euro (+57,100). The share of Airbnb and Vrbo was 21.2 percent. Therefore, registered accommodation sales were 1.2 million euro (+147,000) and non-registered sales 316,000 euro (-90,100).

Total January-August sales were 8.9 million euro and they decreased 34,600 euro from the previous year.
