Paid bed nights

Registered bed nights increased 53 percent

In May 2019, 10,600 registered bed nights were recorded in Motala (+52.6 %), of which 9,000 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 1,600 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 55 percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 40 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 53 percent from last year's May.

Most foreign registered bed nights were recorded for travelers from Germany (490 nights).

950 rooms (+55.2 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 2,000 rooms (+13.6 %) by business visitors.

Between January and May, 20,300 registered bed nights (+28.7 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 3,300 (+36.4 %) for foreigners in Motala, in total 23,600 (+29.7 %) registered nights.

Total of 5.3 million registered bed nights (+3.0 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 4.1 million nights (+6.1 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 1.3 million nights (-5.8 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Motala out of total registered bed nights was 0.2 % (+0.1 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 0.2 % and foreign bed nights 0.1 %.

Length of stay was 2.2 nights in registered accommodation

Length of stay in registered accommodation decreased 50 percent compared to earlier year. In Motala, length of stay in May was on average 2.2 nights and in Sweden 1.8 nights (-5.1 %).

During May, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Motala on average 2.0 nights (-14.7 %) and foreigners 3.2 nights (-46.0 %).

4,900 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 200 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 89.8 percent were domestic, and 10.2 percent were from foreign countries.

During May, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Motala on average 2.0 nights (-1.9) and foreigners 3.2 nights (-4.3).
