Registered bed nights increased 16 percent

In August 2022, 352,000 registered bed nights were recorded in Norrbotten County (+15.7 %), of which 237,000 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 115,000 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights decreased one percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 79 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 16 percent from last year's August.

Most foreign registered bed nights were recorded for travelers from Norway (62,500 nights).

67,800 rooms (+28.1 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 51,500 rooms (+4.2 %) by business visitors.

Between January and August, 1.4 million registered bed nights (+11.1 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 772,000 (+210.2 %) for foreigners in Norrbotten County, in total 2.1 million (+44.9 %) registered nights.

Total of 8.8 million registered bed nights (+5.1 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 6.5 million nights (-4.1 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 2.3 million nights (+44.1 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Norrbotten County out of total registered bed nights was 4.0 % (+0.4 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 3.6 % and foreign bed nights 5.0 %.

157,000 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 17 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 68.0 percent were domestic, and 32.0 percent were from foreign countries.

During August, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Norrbotten County on average 2.2 nights (-0.11) and foreigners 2.3 nights (+0.21).
