Paid bed nights

Registered bed nights increased six percent

In May 2017, 138,000 registered bed nights were recorded in Norrbotten County (+6.2 %), of which 121,000 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 16,300 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased seven percent and registered foreign bed nights increased two percent. In total, registered bed nights increased six percent from last year's May.

18,100 rooms (+9.7 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 39,400 rooms (+8.3 %) by business visitors.

Between January and May, 568,000 registered bed nights (+0.9 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 212,000 (+0.8 %) for foreigners in Norrbotten County, in total 780,000 (+0.8 %) registered nights.

Total of 5.0 million registered bed nights (+4.5 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 3.8 million nights (+4.8 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 1.2 million nights (+3.5 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Norrbotten County out of total registered bed nights was 2.7 % (0.0 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 3.2 % and foreign bed nights 1.4 %.

Length of stay was 2.1 nights in registered accommodation

Length of stay in registered accommodation decreased two percent compared to earlier year. In Norrbotten County, length of stay in May was on average 2.1 nights and in Sweden 1.9 nights (-2.2 %).

During May, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Norrbotten County on average 2.1 nights (-1.0 %) and foreigners 2.0 nights (-14.4 %).

67,200 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased eight percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 87.8 percent were domestic, and 12.2 percent were from foreign countries.

During May, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Norrbotten County on average 2.1 nights (-0.03) and foreigners 2.0 nights (-0.06).
