Paid bed nights

Registered bed nights increased 11 percent

In June 2018, 246,000 registered bed nights were recorded in Norrbotten County (+10.6 %), of which 162,000 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 84,000 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights decreased one percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 41 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 11 percent from last year's June.

Most foreign registered bed nights were recorded for travelers from Norway (45,600 nights).

30,400 rooms (+9.7 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 36,700 rooms (+4.4 %) by business visitors.

Between January and June, 756,000 registered bed nights (+3.4 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 342,000 (+25.9 %) for foreigners in Norrbotten County, in total 1.1 million (+9.5 %) registered nights.

Market share 3.7 percent

Total of 6.6 million registered bed nights (+3.4 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 4.7 million nights (+2.9 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 2.0 million nights (+4.7 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Norrbotten County out of total registered bed nights was 3.7 % (+0.2 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 3.5 % and foreign bed nights 4.3 %.

Length of stay increased five percent in registered accommodation

Length of stay in registered accommodation increased five percent compared to earlier year. In Norrbotten County, length of stay in June was on average 2.0 nights and in Sweden 2.0 nights (+0.2 %).

During June, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Norrbotten County on average 2.1 nights (+5.8 %) and foreigners 1.9 nights (+4.1 %).

122,000 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased five percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 63.8 percent were domestic, and 36.2 percent were from foreign countries.

During June, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Norrbotten County on average 2.1 nights (+0.07) and foreigners 1.9 nights (+0.2).
