Paid bed nights

133,000 registered bed nights

In September 2020, 133,000 registered bed nights were recorded in Norrbotten County (-10.8 %), of which 102,000 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 30,700 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights decreased 11 percent and registered foreign bed nights decreased 10 percent. In total, registered bed nights decreased 11 percent from last year's September.

Most foreign registered bed nights were recorded for travelers from Poland (6,600 nights).

27,100 rooms (-4.8 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 48,100 rooms (-3.8 %) by business visitors.

Between January and September, 1.1 million registered bed nights (-22.2 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 328,000 (-59.7 %) for foreigners in Norrbotten County, in total 1.5 million (-35.6 %) registered nights.

Total of 3.1 million registered bed nights (-30.9 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 2.7 million nights (-20.1 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 436,000 nights (-62.3 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Norrbotten County out of total registered bed nights was 4.3 % (+1.0 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 3.8 % and foreign bed nights 7.0 %.

Length of stay increased 24 percent in registered accommodation

Length of stay in registered accommodation increased 24 percent compared to earlier year. In Norrbotten County, length of stay in September was on average 2.5 nights and in Sweden 2.0 nights (+4.9 %).

During September, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Norrbotten County on average 2.2 nights (+7.7 %) and foreigners 3.7 nights (+17.4 %).

54,200 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased 28 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 84.7 percent were domestic, and 15.3 percent were from foreign countries.

During September, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Norrbotten County on average 2.2 nights (+0.18) and foreigners 3.7 nights (+1.9).
