Registered bed nights increased 44 percent (January)

In January 2023, 23,800 registered bed nights were recorded in North Karelia (+43.7 %), of which 22,000 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 1,800 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 41 percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 80 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 44 percent from last year's January.

14,900 nights (+34.1 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 8,900 nights (+63.4 %) by business visitors.

Total of 1.5 million registered bed nights (+47.7 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 996,000 nights (+44.3 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 528,000 nights (+54.6 %) by foreigners.

The market share of North Karelia out of total registered bed nights was 1.6 % (-0.0 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 2.2 % and foreign bed nights 0.3 %.

14,700 tourists arrived to registered accommodation (January)

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 59 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 95.4 percent were domestic, and 4.6 percent were from foreign countries.

During January, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in North Karelia on average 1.6 nights (-0.17) and foreigners 2.6 nights (-0.63).

The airport received a total of 930 passengers, which means air passenger arrivals increased 105 percent.
