23,500 registered bed nights (November)
In November 2020, 23,500 bed nights were recorded in North Karelia (-16.8 %), of which 18,300 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 5,200 nights by foreigners. Domestic bed nights decreased 24 percent and foreign bed nights increased 23 percent. In total, bed nights decreased 17 percent from last year's November.
Most foreign bed nights were recorded for travelers from Germany (810 nights).
12,500 nights (-24.6 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 11,000 nights (-5.7 %) by business visitors.
Between January and November, 348,000 bed nights (-15.8 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 30,600 (-54.7 %) for foreigners in North Karelia, in total 378,000 (-21.3 %) nights.
Registered bed nights statistics include stats for registered accommodations: hotels, motels, guest houses, hostels, holiday villages and campsites. Establishments with fewer than 20 beds or caravan lots with an electrical connection point are excluded.

11,900 tourists arrived to accommodation (November)
Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased 37 percent compared to earlier year. Of all arrivals, 92.7 percent were domestic, and 7.3 percent were from foreign countries.
During November, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in North Karelia on average 1.7 nights (+0.26) and foreigners 6.0 nights (+3.5).
71 air travelers (Joensuu)
The airport received a total of 71 passengers, which means air passenger arrivals decreased 98 percent.
Of local passengers, 14.1 % arrived from abroad, thus the share of domestic passengers was 85.9 %.
In addition, there were 440 passengers departing the airport (-89.1 %), therefore the total number of trips via the airport was 510 (-93.9 %).

25,000 Russian travelers via eastern border
A total of 25,000 Russians arrived in Finland over the eastern border crossings.

Russian visa applications decreased 99 percent
There was a total of 670 visa applications to Finland made by the Russians. 48.7 percent were done at St. Petersburg's consulate.
Foreign visitors and their consumption (November)
The number of foreign visitors in November was 6,000 (-49.2 %). Out of them 2,800 were on a daytrip and 3,200 stayed at least for one night.
The cumulative number of foreign visitors between January and November was 124,000 (-58.2 %).
Total consumption of these visitors in North Karelia in November was 653,000 euro (109 per visitor). Overnight visitors spent 517,000 euro and day visitors 135,000 euro. Between January and November the consumption was 10.9 million euro.

Registered accommodation sales in November were 1.6 million euro (-178,000).
Registered January-November sales were 18.9 million euro and they decreased 5.4 million euro from the previous year.
