20,800 registered bed nights (March)

In March 2020, 20,800 bed nights were recorded in North Karelia (-41.0 %), of which 15,400 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 5,300 nights by foreigners. Domestic bed nights decreased 47 percent and foreign bed nights decreased 12 percent. In total, bed nights decreased 41 percent from last year's March.

12,700 nights (-48.0 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 8,000 nights (-25.1 %) by business visitors.

Between January and March, 66,200 bed nights (-11.5 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 15,800 (-6.1 %) for foreigners in North Karelia, in total 82,000 (-10.5 %) nights.

Total of 989,000 bed nights (-46.9 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 722,000 nights (-44.3 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 267,000 nights (-53.0 %) by foreigners.

The market share of North Karelia out of total bed nights was 2.1 % (+0.2 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 2.1 % and foreign bed nights 2.0 %.

9,700 tourists arrived to accommodation (March)

Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased 52 percent compared to earlier year. Of all arrivals, 85.7 percent were domestic, and 14.3 percent were from foreign countries.

During March, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in North Karelia on average 1.9 nights (+0.2) and foreigners 3.8 nights (+1.5).

20,100 Russian travelers via eastern border

A total of 20,100 Russians arrived in Finland over the eastern border crossings.

Russian visa applications increased 29 percent (February)

There was a total of 51,600 visa applications to Finland made by the Russians. 83.4 percent were done at St. Petersburg's consulate.

Accommodation sales 1.4 million euro (March)

Registered accommodation sales in March were 1.4 million euro (-713,000).

Registered January-March sales were 5.0 million euro and they decreased 528,000 euro from the previous year.
