Registered bed nights increased eight percent

In September 2020, 146,000 registered bed nights were recorded in North Ostrobothnia (+7.5 %), of which 139,000 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 7,000 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 13 percent and registered foreign bed nights decreased 45 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased eight percent from last year's September.

98,700 nights (+12.0 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 47,100 nights (-0.8 %) by business visitors.

Between January and September, 1.1 million registered bed nights (-9.9 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 156,000 (-30.2 %) for foreigners in North Ostrobothnia, in total 1.3 million (-13.0 %) registered nights.

Market share 11.8 percent

Total of 1.2 million registered bed nights (-32.1 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 1.1 million nights (-12.4 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 92,200 nights (-82.1 %) by foreigners.

The market share of North Ostrobothnia out of total registered bed nights was 11.8 % (+4.3 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 12.1 % and foreign bed nights 7.6 %.

67,900 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased seven percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 97.3 percent were domestic, and 2.7 percent were from foreign countries.

During September, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in North Ostrobothnia on average 2.1 nights (+0.27) and foreigners 3.9 nights (+1.7).

Registered accommodation sales in September were 6.9 million euro (-68,900).

Registered January-September sales were 52.8 million euro and they decreased 12.4 million euro from the previous year.
