North Ostrobothnia: Tourism in a nutshell
120,000 registered bed nights
In January 2019, 120,000 bed nights were recorded in North Ostrobothnia (-1.7 %), of which 71,200 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 49,300 nights by foreigners. Domestic bed nights decreased eight percent and foreign bed nights increased nine percent. In total, bed nights decreased two percent from last year's January.
Most foreign bed nights were recorded for travelers from Russia (14,300 nights).
88,300 nights (+4.3 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 32,200 nights (-15.0 %) by business visitors.
Registered bed nights statistics include stats for registered accommodations: hotels, motels, guest houses, hostels, holiday villages and campsites. Establishments with fewer than 20 beds or caravan lots with an electrical connection point are excluded.

Market share 7.8 percent
Total of 1.5 million bed nights (+1.1 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 869,000 nights (+1.5 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 675,000 nights (+0.6 %) by foreigners.
The market share of North Ostrobothnia out of total bed nights was 7.8 % (-0.2 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 8.2 % and foreign bed nights 7.3 %.
50,800 tourists arrived to accommodation
Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased two percent compared to earlier year. Of all arrivals, 74.2 percent were domestic, and 25.8 percent were from foreign countries.
During January, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in North Ostrobothnia on average 1.9 nights (-0.03) and foreigners 3.8 nights (-0.06).
