164,000 registered bed nights

In August 2019, 164,000 bed nights were recorded in North Ostrobothnia (-3.4 %), of which 143,000 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 21,100 nights by foreigners. Domestic bed nights decreased three percent and foreign bed nights decreased six percent. In total, bed nights decreased three percent from last year's August.

Most foreign bed nights were recorded for travelers from Germany (4,000 nights).

120,000 nights (-7.2 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 44,200 nights (+8.7 %) by business visitors.

Between January and August, 1.1 million bed nights (-0.5 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 211,000 (+2.5 %) for foreigners in North Ostrobothnia, in total 1.3 million (-0.1 %) nights.

Market share 6.8 percent

Total of 2.4 million bed nights (+3.9 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 1.6 million nights (+3.7 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 786,000 nights (+4.1 %) by foreigners.

The market share of North Ostrobothnia out of total bed nights was 6.8 % (-0.5 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 8.8 % and foreign bed nights 2.7 %.

98,000 tourists arrived to accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased five percent compared to earlier year. Of all arrivals, 88.3 percent were domestic, and 11.7 percent were from foreign countries.

During August, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in North Ostrobothnia on average 1.7 nights (+0.05) and foreigners 1.8 nights (-0.07).

Accommodation sales 7.1 million euro

Registered accommodation sales in August were 7.1 million euro (+376,000).

Registered January-August sales were 58.2 million euro and they increased 3.6 million euro from the previous year.
