Paid bed nights

Registered bed nights increased seven percent

In December 2018, 167,000 registered bed nights were recorded in North Ostrobothnia (+6.7 %), of which 108,000 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 59,100 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased two percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 16 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased seven percent from last year's December.

133,000 nights (+11.6 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 34,300 nights (-8.8 %) by business visitors.

Between January and December, 1.5 million registered bed nights (+2.5 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 321,000 (+3.8 %) for foreigners in North Ostrobothnia, in total 1.8 million (+2.8 %) registered nights.

Market share 9.5 percent

Total of 1.8 million registered bed nights (+3.0 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 967,000 nights (-0.2 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 789,000 nights (+7.1 %) by foreigners.

The market share of North Ostrobothnia out of total registered bed nights was 9.5 % (+0.3 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 11.2 % and foreign bed nights 7.5 %.

Length of stay increased three percent in registered accommodation

Length of stay in registered accommodation increased three percent compared to earlier year. In North Ostrobothnia, length of stay in December was on average 2.4 nights and in Finland 2.0 nights (+1.4 %).

During December, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in North Ostrobothnia on average 2.1 nights (-3.7 %) and foreigners 3.3 nights (+1.3 %).

68,800 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased four percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 73.9 percent were domestic, and 26.1 percent were from foreign countries.

During December, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in North Ostrobothnia on average 2.1 nights (+0.06) and foreigners 3.3 nights (-0.08).

Registered January-December sales were 80.3 million euro and they increased 4.4 million euro from the previous year.
