Paid bed nights

Registered bed nights increased 20 percent

In February 2020, 193,000 registered bed nights were recorded in North Ostrobothnia (+19.9 %), of which 150,000 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 42,500 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 20 percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 21 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 20 percent from last year's February.

Most foreign registered bed nights were recorded for travelers from United Kingdom (9,700 nights).

150,000 nights (+26.2 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 42,200 nights (+1.8 %) by business visitors.

Between January and February, 239,000 registered bed nights (+21.8 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 93,000 (+9.9 %) for foreigners in North Ostrobothnia, in total 332,000 (+18.2 %) registered nights.

Market share 10.4 percent

Total of 1.9 million registered bed nights (+7.0 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 1.2 million nights (+10.2 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 611,000 nights (+1.2 %) by foreigners.

The market share of North Ostrobothnia out of total registered bed nights was 10.4 % (+1.1 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 12.1 % and foreign bed nights 7.0 %.

Length of stay increased 11 percent in registered accommodation

Length of stay in registered accommodation increased 11 percent compared to earlier year. In North Ostrobothnia, length of stay in February was on average 2.6 nights and in Finland 2.0 nights (+2.0 %).

During February, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in North Ostrobothnia on average 2.4 nights (+9.0 %) and foreigners 3.7 nights (+3.7 %).

73,300 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased eight percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 84.4 percent were domestic, and 15.6 percent were from foreign countries.

During February, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in North Ostrobothnia on average 2.4 nights (+0.24) and foreigners 3.7 nights (+0.37).

Registered January-February sales were 16.6 million euro and they increased 2.8 million euro from the previous year.
