North Savonia: Tourism in a nutshell
54,600 registered bed nights
In January 2019, 54,600 bed nights were recorded in North Savonia (-7.7 %), of which 42,500 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 12,100 nights by foreigners. Domestic bed nights decreased seven percent and foreign bed nights decreased 11 percent. In total, bed nights decreased eight percent from last year's January.
32,600 nights (-14.5 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 22,100 nights (+4.4 %) by business visitors.
Registered bed nights statistics include stats for registered accommodations: hotels, motels, guest houses, hostels, holiday villages and campsites. Establishments with fewer than 20 beds or caravan lots with an electrical connection point are excluded.

Total of 1.5 million bed nights (+1.1 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 869,000 nights (+1.5 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 675,000 nights (+0.6 %) by foreigners.
The market share of North Savonia out of total bed nights was 3.5 % (-0.3 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 4.9 % and foreign bed nights 1.8 %.
29,600 tourists arrived to accommodation
Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased seven percent compared to earlier year. Of all arrivals, 88.7 percent were domestic, and 11.3 percent were from foreign countries.
During January, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in North Savonia on average 1.6 nights (-0.02) and foreigners 3.6 nights (+0.14).

262,000 Russian travelers via eastern border
A total of 262,000 Russians arrived in Finland over the eastern border crossings.
The share of southeastern border stations was 80.1 percent.

Registered accommodation sales in January were 3.1 million euro (+44,000).
