Registered bed nights increased nine percent

In September 2021, 64,200 registered bed nights were recorded in North Savonia (+9.5 %), of which 61,200 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 3,000 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased seven percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 127 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased nine percent from last year's September.

Most foreign registered bed nights were recorded for travelers from Germany (580 nights).

37,300 nights (+1.4 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 27,000 nights (+23.0 %) by business visitors.

Between January and September, 547,000 registered bed nights (+18.0 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 28,900 (-18.9 %) for foreigners in North Savonia, in total 576,000 (+15.4 %) registered nights.

Market share 4.0 percent

Total of 1.6 million registered bed nights (+29.2 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 1.4 million nights (+21.8 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 204,000 nights (+121.3 %) by foreigners.

The market share of North Savonia out of total registered bed nights was 4.0 % (-0.7 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 4.4 % and foreign bed nights 1.5 %.

35,900 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 16 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 96.0 percent were domestic, and 4.0 percent were from foreign countries.

During September, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in North Savonia on average 1.8 nights (-0.1) and foreigners 2.1 nights (-0.38).

Ferry arrivals from different harbors

Trips by Russian travelers over the eastern border increased 40 percent

A total of 33,400 Russians arrived in Finland over the eastern border crossings.

There was a total of 2,200 visa applications to Finland made by the Russians. 52.3 percent were done at St. Petersburg's consulate.

Accommodation sales 3.7 million euro

Registered accommodation sales in September were 3.7 million euro (+505,000).

Registered January-September sales were 29.4 million euro and they increased 5.2 million euro from the previous year.
