36,800 registered bed nights
In March 2020, 36,800 bed nights were recorded in North Savonia (-50.8 %), of which 33,200 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 3,600 nights by foreigners. Domestic bed nights decreased 49 percent and foreign bed nights decreased 61 percent. In total, bed nights decreased 51 percent from last year's March.
Most foreign bed nights were recorded for travelers from Russia (1,200 nights).
21,900 nights (-56.7 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 15,000 nights (-38.6 %) by business visitors.
Between January and March, 144,000 bed nights (-17.5 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 25,200 (-12.9 %) for foreigners in North Savonia, in total 169,000 (-16.8 %) nights.
Registered bed nights statistics include stats for registered accommodations: hotels, motels, guest houses, hostels, holiday villages and campsites. Establishments with fewer than 20 beds or caravan lots with an electrical connection point are excluded.

18,900 tourists arrived to accommodation
Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased 53 percent compared to earlier year. Of all arrivals, 93.5 percent were domestic, and 6.5 percent were from foreign countries.
During March, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in North Savonia on average 1.9 nights (+0.11) and foreigners 2.9 nights (-0.24).

145,000 Russian travelers via eastern border
A total of 145,000 Russians arrived in Finland over the eastern border crossings.
The share of southeastern border stations was 88.7 percent.

There was a total of 27,200 visa applications to Finland made by the Russians. 77.9 percent were done at St. Petersburg's consulate.
Accommodation sales 2.1 million euro
Registered accommodation sales in March were 2.1 million euro (-2.1 million).
Registered January-March sales were 9.5 million euro and they decreased 1.8 million euro from the previous year.
