Registered bed nights increased 34 percent

In May 2022, 56,000 registered bed nights were recorded in North Savonia (+34.2 %), of which 54,000 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 2,000 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 36 percent and registered foreign bed nights decreased six percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 34 percent from last year's May.

30,800 nights (+42.0 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 25,300 nights (+25.8 %) by business visitors.

Between January and May, 267,000 registered bed nights (+46.1 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 12,800 (+148.6 %) for foreigners in North Savonia, in total 280,000 (+48.9 %) registered nights.

Market share 3.6 percent

Total of 1.5 million registered bed nights (+82.1 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 1.2 million nights (+57.9 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 319,000 nights (+345.0 %) by foreigners.

The market share of North Savonia out of total registered bed nights was 3.6 % (-1.3 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 4.4 % and foreign bed nights 0.6 %.

32,100 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 65 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 96.4 percent were domestic, and 3.6 percent were from foreign countries.

During May, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in North Savonia on average 1.7 nights (-0.39) and foreigners 1.8 nights (-0.67).

Ferry arrivals from different harbors

Trips by Russian travelers over the eastern border increased 36 percent

A total of 32,800 Russians arrived in Finland over the eastern border crossings.

The share of southeastern border stations was 76.2 percent.
