Registered bed nights increased 340 percent
In April 2021, 31,700 registered bed nights were recorded in North Savonia (+336.7 %), of which 31,000 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 730 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 390 percent and registered foreign bed nights decreased 22 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 340 percent from last year's April.
Most foreign registered bed nights were recorded for travelers from Latvia (172 nights).
18,500 nights (+559.0 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 13,200 nights (+196.3 %) by business visitors.
Between January and April, 144,000 registered bed nights (-4.6 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 3,000 (-88.5 %) for foreigners in North Savonia, in total 147,000 (-17.0 %) registered nights.
Registered bed nights statistics include stats for registered accommodations: hotels, motels, guest houses, hostels, holiday villages and campsites. Establishments with fewer than 20 beds or caravan lots with an electrical connection point are excluded.

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 460 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 98.8 percent were domestic, and 1.2 percent were from foreign countries.
During April, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in North Savonia on average 2.0 nights (-0.52) and foreigners 4.0 nights (+0.66).

Trips by Russian travelers over the eastern border increased 31 percent
A total of 26,200 Russians arrived in Finland over the eastern border crossings.
The share of southeastern border stations was 68.4 percent.

There was a total of 1,100 visa applications to Finland made by the Russians. 40.1 percent were done at St. Petersburg's consulate.
Accommodation sales 1.7 million euro
Registered accommodation sales in April were 1.7 million euro (+1.4 million).
Registered January-April sales were 8.1 million euro and they decreased 1.8 million euro from the previous year.
