Paid bed nights

Registered bed nights increased three percent

In January 2018, 59,300 registered bed nights were recorded in North Savonia (+3.3 %), of which 45,600 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 13,700 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased two percent and registered foreign bed nights increased seven percent. In total, registered bed nights increased three percent from last year's January.

Most foreign registered bed nights were recorded for travelers from Russia (11,000 nights).

38,100 nights (-1.2 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 21,200 nights (+12.4 %) by business visitors.

Total of 1.5 million registered bed nights (+3.5 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 856,000 nights (+0.8 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 671,000 nights (+7.2 %) by foreigners.

The market share of North Savonia out of total registered bed nights was 3.9 % (-0.0 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 5.3 % and foreign bed nights 2.0 %.

Length of stay increased one percent in registered accommodation

Length of stay in registered accommodation increased one percent compared to earlier year. In North Savonia, length of stay in January was on average 1.9 nights and in Finland 2.0 nights (-0.3 %).

During January, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in North Savonia on average 1.6 nights and foreigners 3.5 nights .

31,700 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased two percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 87.6 percent were domestic, and 12.4 percent were from foreign countries.

During January, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in North Savonia on average 1.6 nights (+0.03) and foreigners 3.5 nights (-0.28).
