In December 2018, 52,300 registered bed nights were recorded in North Savonia (-7.9 %), of which 46,900 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 5,400 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights decreased 10 percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 10 percent. In total, registered bed nights decreased eight percent from last year's December.
35,900 nights (-6.8 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 16,400 nights (-10.2 %) by business visitors.
Between January and December, 738,000 registered bed nights (-2.2 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 104,000 (+12.6 %) for foreigners in North Savonia, in total 843,000 (-0.5 %) registered nights.
Registered bed nights statistics include stats for registered accommodations: hotels, motels, guest houses, hostels, holiday villages and campsites. Establishments with fewer than 20 beds or caravan lots with an electrical connection point are excluded.

Length of stay increased five percent in registered accommodation
Length of stay in registered accommodation increased five percent compared to earlier year. In North Savonia, length of stay in December was on average 1.8 nights and in Finland 2.0 nights (+1.4 %).
During December, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in North Savonia on average 1.8 nights (+2.0 %) and foreigners 2.6 nights (+3.7 %).
28,800 tourists arrived to registered accommodation
Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased 12 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 92.9 percent were domestic, and 7.1 percent were from foreign countries.
During December, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in North Savonia on average 1.8 nights (+0.05) and foreigners 2.6 nights (+0.43).
