64,600 registered bed nights

In May 2020, 64,600 registered bed nights were recorded in Oslo (-86.7 %), of which 54,400 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 10,200 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights decreased 82 percent and registered foreign bed nights decreased 95 percent. In total, registered bed nights decreased 87 percent from last year's May.

25,900 nights (-89.2 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 31,500 nights (-83.7 %) by business visitors.

Between January and May, 720,000 registered bed nights (-44.6 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 275,000 (-55.0 %) for foreigners in Oslo, in total 995,000 (-47.9 %) registered nights.

Market share 6.3 percent

Total of 1.0 million registered bed nights (-62.3 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 959,000 nights (-51.5 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 70,600 nights (-90.6 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Oslo out of total registered bed nights was 6.3 % (-11.5 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 5.7 % and foreign bed nights 14.5 %.

Length of stay increased 14 percent in registered accommodation

Length of stay in registered accommodation increased 14 percent compared to earlier year. In Oslo, length of stay in May was on average 2.1 nights and in Norway 2.7 nights (+46.1 %).

During May, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Oslo on average 1.9 nights (+1.1 %) and foreigners 3.1 nights (+13.4 %).

31,400 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased 88 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 89.6 percent were domestic, and 10.4 percent were from foreign countries.

During May, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Oslo on average 1.9 nights (+0.19) and foreigners 3.1 nights (+1.2).

110,000 air travelers

The airport received a total of 110,000 passengers, which means air passenger arrivals decreased 91 percent.

Of local passengers, 14.2 % arrived from abroad, thus the share of domestic passengers was 85.8 %.

In addition, there were 105,000 passengers departing the airport (-91.3 %), therefore the total number of trips via the airport was 215,000 (-91.2 %).
