Registered bed nights increased 20 percent

In August 2022, 58,700 registered bed nights were recorded in Östersund (+20.3 %), of which 37,500 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 21,200 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights decreased six percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 137 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 20 percent from last year's August.

Most foreign registered bed nights were recorded for travelers from Norway (15,000 nights).

13,700 rooms (+26.4 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 9,200 rooms (-0.9 %) by business visitors.

Between January and August, 216,000 registered bed nights (+10.7 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 116,000 (+284.9 %) for foreigners in Östersund, in total 331,000 (+47.5 %) registered nights.

Market share 0.7 percent

Total of 8.8 million registered bed nights (+5.1 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 6.5 million nights (-4.1 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 2.3 million nights (+44.1 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Östersund out of total registered bed nights was 0.7 % (+0.1 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 0.6 % and foreign bed nights 0.9 %.

33,500 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 18 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 63.9 percent were domestic, and 36.1 percent were from foreign countries.

During August, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Östersund on average 1.8 nights (+0.03) and foreigners 1.8 nights (+0.06).
