Paid bed nights

Registered bed nights increased two percent

In August 2018, 54,100 registered bed nights were recorded in Östersund (+1.9 %), of which 31,400 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 22,700 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased less than one percent and registered foreign bed nights increased four percent. In total, registered bed nights increased two percent from last year's August.

Most foreign registered bed nights were recorded for travelers from Norway (16,000 nights).

10,000 rooms (+31.8 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 8,100 rooms (-21.3 %) by business visitors.

Between January and August, 219,000 registered bed nights (+0.6 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 132,000 (+15.6 %) for foreigners in Östersund, in total 351,000 (+5.7 %) registered nights.

Total of 8.6 million registered bed nights (-0.2 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 5.9 million nights (-1.0 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 2.7 million nights (+1.5 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Östersund out of total registered bed nights was 0.6 % (0.0 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 0.5 % and foreign bed nights 0.8 %.

Length of stay was 1.7 nights in registered accommodation

Length of stay in registered accommodation decreased three percent compared to earlier year. In Östersund, length of stay in August was on average 1.7 nights and in Sweden 2.1 nights (-1.9 %).

During August, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Östersund on average 1.6 nights (+2.7 %) and foreigners 1.7 nights (+0.3 %).

32,500 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased five percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 59.1 percent were domestic, and 40.9 percent were from foreign countries.
