Paid bed nights

Registered bed nights increased 41 percent

In March 2019, 38,900 registered bed nights were recorded in Östersund (+41.0 %), of which 24,000 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 14,900 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased seven percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 187 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 41 percent from last year's March.

Most foreign registered bed nights were recorded for travelers from Norway (5,400 nights).

8,300 rooms (+38.4 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 12,800 rooms (+30.0 %) by business visitors.

Between January and March, 65,300 registered bed nights (-6.4 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 27,000 (+93.7 %) for foreigners in Östersund, in total 92,300 (+10.3 %) registered nights.

Total of 4.5 million registered bed nights (-3.7 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 3.6 million nights (-1.2 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 888,000 nights (-12.6 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Östersund out of total registered bed nights was 0.9 % (+0.3 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 0.7 % and foreign bed nights 1.7 %.

Length of stay increased 52 percent in registered accommodation

Length of stay in registered accommodation increased 52 percent compared to earlier year. In Östersund, length of stay in March was on average 2.5 nights and in Sweden 2.2 nights (-4.6 %).

During March, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Östersund on average 2.1 nights (+4.9 %) and foreigners 3.7 nights (+48.8 %).

15,700 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased seven percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 74.3 percent were domestic, and 25.7 percent were from foreign countries.

During March, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Östersund on average 2.1 nights (+0.45) and foreigners 3.7 nights (+1.9).
