Paid bed nights

Registered bed nights increased five percent

In August 2019, 56,700 registered bed nights were recorded in Östersund (+4.8 %), of which 33,800 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 22,900 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased eight percent and registered foreign bed nights increased one percent. In total, registered bed nights increased five percent from last year's August.

Most foreign registered bed nights were recorded for travelers from Norway (13,700 nights).

10,700 rooms (+6.4 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 11,200 rooms (+37.7 %) by business visitors.

Between January and August, 214,000 registered bed nights (-2.4 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 143,000 (+8.7 %) for foreigners in Östersund, in total 357,000 (+1.7 %) registered nights.

Total of 8.9 million registered bed nights (+3.6 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 6.1 million nights (+4.0 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 2.8 million nights (+3.0 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Östersund out of total registered bed nights was 0.6 % (0.0 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 0.6 % and foreign bed nights 0.8 %.

Length of stay increased seven percent in registered accommodation

Length of stay in registered accommodation increased seven percent compared to earlier year. In Östersund, length of stay in August was on average 1.8 nights and in Sweden 2.2 nights (+0.4 %).

During August, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Östersund on average 1.8 nights (+4.8 %) and foreigners 1.8 nights (+11.1 %).

31,900 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased two percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 59.9 percent were domestic, and 40.1 percent were from foreign countries.

During August, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Östersund on average 1.8 nights (+0.13) and foreigners 1.8 nights (+0.08).
