31,100 registered bed nights

In August 2020, 31,100 registered bed nights were recorded in Östersund (-45.2 %), of which 28,200 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 2,800 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights decreased 16 percent and registered foreign bed nights decreased 88 percent. In total, registered bed nights decreased 45 percent from last year's August.

Most foreign registered bed nights were recorded for travelers from United States (770 nights).

6,600 rooms (-38.3 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 6,900 rooms (-38.5 %) by business visitors.

Between January and August, 169,000 registered bed nights (-21.0 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 22,900 (-84.0 %) for foreigners in Östersund, in total 192,000 (-46.3 %) registered nights.

Length of stay increased five percent in registered accommodation

Length of stay in registered accommodation increased five percent compared to earlier year. In Östersund, length of stay in August was on average 1.9 nights and in Sweden 2.3 nights (+6.0 %).

During August, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Östersund on average 1.9 nights (+5.6 %) and foreigners 1.6 nights (-4.1 %).

16,600 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased 48 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 89.5 percent were domestic, and 10.5 percent were from foreign countries.

During August, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Östersund on average 1.9 nights (+0.13) and foreigners 1.6 nights (-0.15).
