31,100 registered bed nights

In August 2020, 31,100 registered bed nights were recorded in Östersund (-45.2 %), of which 28,200 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 2,800 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights decreased 16 percent and registered foreign bed nights decreased 88 percent. In total, registered bed nights decreased 45 percent from last year's August.

6,600 rooms (-38.4 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 6,900 rooms (-38.5 %) by business visitors.

Between January and August, 169,000 registered bed nights (-21.0 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 22,900 (-84.0 %) for foreigners in Östersund, in total 192,000 (-46.3 %) registered nights.

Total of 6.0 million registered bed nights (-31.9 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 5.4 million nights (-11.3 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 638,000 nights (-77.1 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Östersund out of total registered bed nights was 0.5 % (-0.1 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 0.5 % and foreign bed nights 0.4 %.

16,600 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased 48 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 89.5 percent were domestic, and 10.5 percent were from foreign countries.

During August, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Östersund on average 1.9 nights (+0.13) and foreigners 1.6 nights (-0.16).
