Paid bed nights

Registered bed nights increased eight percent

In March 2021, 19,900 registered bed nights were recorded in Östersund (+8.3 %), of which 16,700 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 3,200 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased eight percent and registered foreign bed nights increased nine percent. In total, registered bed nights increased eight percent from last year's March.

4,400 rooms (+70.3 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 7,100 rooms (-11.7 %) by business visitors.

Between January and March, 43,000 registered bed nights (-28.0 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 4,900 (-64.7 %) for foreigners in Östersund, in total 47,900 (-34.9 %) registered nights.

Total of 2.9 million registered bed nights (+2.8 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 2.7 million nights (+11.1 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 218,000 nights (-46.3 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Östersund out of total registered bed nights was 0.7 % (0.0 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 0.6 % and foreign bed nights 1.4 %.

Length of stay was 2.2 nights in registered accommodation

Length of stay in registered accommodation decreased five percent compared to earlier year. In Östersund, length of stay in March was on average 2.2 nights and in Sweden 3.2 nights (+21.8 %).

During March, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Östersund on average 2.1 nights (+5.4 %) and foreigners 3.0 nights (+4.3 %).

8,900 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 14 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 88.3 percent were domestic, and 11.7 percent were from foreign countries.

During March, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Östersund on average 2.1 nights (-0.09) and foreigners 3.0 nights (-0.33).
