Registered bed nights increased one percent

In September 2019, 26,400 registered bed nights were recorded in Ostrobothnia (+0.9 %), of which 19,600 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 6,800 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights decreased 13 percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 12 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased one percent from last year's September.

Most foreign registered bed nights were recorded for travelers from Sweden (1,800 nights).

10,000 nights (+15.5 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 16,400 nights (-6.4 %) by business visitors.

Between January and September, 220,000 registered bed nights (-4.9 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 68,400 (-2.3 %) for foreigners in Ostrobothnia, in total 288,000 (+5.2 %) registered nights.

Market share 1.4 percent

Total of 1.8 million registered bed nights (+5.2 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 1.3 million nights (+3.0 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 516,000 nights (+11.2 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Ostrobothnia out of total registered bed nights was 1.4 % (-0.1 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 1.5 % and foreign bed nights 1.3 %.

17,400 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased one percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 81.0 percent were domestic, and 19.0 percent were from foreign countries.

During September, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Ostrobothnia on average 1.4 nights (-0.15) and foreigners 2.0 nights (+0.03).

Registered accommodation sales in September were 2.0 million euro (+76,500).

Registered January-September sales were 16.9 million euro and they decreased 584,000 euro from the previous year.
