19,200 registered bed nights

In January 2020, 19,200 registered bed nights were recorded in Ostrobothnia (-0.7 %), of which 15,400 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 3,800 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights decreased two percent and registered foreign bed nights increased three percent. In total, registered bed nights decreased one percent from last year's January.

6,600 nights (+2.6 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 12,600 nights (-2.3 %) by business visitors.

Total of 1.7 million registered bed nights (+8.0 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 957,000 nights (+10.1 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 714,000 nights (+5.3 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Ostrobothnia out of total registered bed nights was 1.1 % (-0.1 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 1.6 % and foreign bed nights 0.5 %.

Length of stay increased one percent in registered accommodation

Length of stay in registered accommodation increased one percent compared to earlier year. In Ostrobothnia, length of stay in January was on average 1.6 nights and in Finland 2.0 nights (-1.9 %).

During January, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Ostrobothnia on average 1.5 nights and foreigners 2.1 nights .

12,200 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased one percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 85.6 percent were domestic, and 14.4 percent were from foreign countries.

During January, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Ostrobothnia on average 1.5 nights (-0.03) and foreigners 2.1 nights (+0.29).
