Oulu: Tourism in a nutshell
47,000 registered bed nights (November)
In November 2019, 47,000 bed nights were recorded in Oulu (-7.5 %), of which 42,200 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 4,800 nights by foreigners. Domestic bed nights decreased five percent and foreign bed nights decreased 26 percent. In total, bed nights decreased seven percent from last year's November.
Between January and November, 496,000 bed nights (-2.0 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 96,600 (+4.4 %) for foreigners in Oulu, in total 593,000 (-1.0 %) nights.
22,700 nights (+1.3 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 24,300 nights (-14.4 %) by business visitors.
Registered bed nights statistics include stats for registered accommodations: hotels, motels, guest houses, hostels, holiday villages and campsites. Establishments with fewer than 20 beds or caravan lots with an electrical connection point are excluded.

Total of 1.6 million bed nights (+4.9 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 1.1 million nights (+5.5 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 453,000 nights (+3.4 %) by foreigners.
The market share of Oulu out of total bed nights was 3.0 % (-0.4 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 3.8 % and foreign bed nights 1.1 %.
30,300 tourists arrived to accommodation (November)
Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased nine percent compared to earlier year. Of all arrivals, 90.7 percent were domestic, and 9.3 percent were from foreign countries.
During November, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Oulu on average 1.5 nights (+0.05) and foreigners 1.7 nights (-0.17).
4,300 international congress guests in 2018
The number of international congress quests increased 18 percent from the previous year.
There was a total of 43 congresses organized (-2.0) in 2018.
44,600 air travelers (November)
The airport received a total of 44,600 passengers, which means air passenger arrivals decreased seven percent.
Of local passengers, 6.9 % arrived from abroad, thus the share of domestic passengers was 93.1 %.
In addition, there were 45,500 passengers departing the airport (-8.8 %), therefore the total number of trips via the airport was 90,100.

Accommodation sales 3.5 million euro (November)
Total accommodation sales in November were 3.5 million euro (-244,000). The share of Airbnb was 6.5 percent. Therefore, registered accommodation sales were 3.3 million euro (-324,000) and Airbnb sales 213,000 euro (+80,100).
Total January-November sales were 38.0 million euro and they decreased 1.0 million euro from the previous year.
