Registered bed nights increased 44 percent (May)

In May 2022, 44,600 registered bed nights were recorded in Oulu (+44.3 %), of which 39,700 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 4,900 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 33 percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 370 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 44 percent from last year's May.

23,600 nights (+55.4 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 21,100 nights (+33.5 %) by business visitors.

Between January and May, 176,000 registered bed nights (+26.2 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 18,400 (+180.3 %) for foreigners in Oulu, in total 195,000 (+33.1 %) registered nights.

Market share 2.9 percent (May)

Total of 1.6 million registered bed nights (+82.8 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 1.2 million nights (+58.1 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 323,000 nights (+350.5 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Oulu out of total registered bed nights was 2.9 % (-0.8 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 3.2 % and foreign bed nights 1.5 %.

27,100 tourists arrived to registered accommodation (May)

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 52 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 91.6 percent were domestic, and 8.4 percent were from foreign countries.

During May, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Oulu on average 1.6 nights (-0.13) and foreigners 2.2 nights (+0.09).

34,500 air travelers (May)

The airport received a total of 34,500 passengers, which means air passenger arrivals increased 430 percent.

Of local passengers, 4.7 % arrived from abroad, thus the share of domestic passengers was 95.3 %.

In addition, there were 35,700 passengers departing the airport (+438.0 %), therefore the total number of trips via the airport was 70,300 (+433.8 %).

Accommodation sales 3.7 million euro (May)

Total accommodation sales in May were 3.7 million euro (+1.7 million). The share of Airbnb and Vrbo was 9.1 percent. Therefore, registered accommodation sales were 3.4 million euro (+1.6 million) and non-registered sales 338,000 euro (+127,000).

Total January-May sales were 13.9 million euro and they increased 5.3 million euro from the previous year.
