53,100 registered bed nights

In August 2023, 53,100 registered bed nights were recorded in Oulu (-3.0 %), of which 42,400 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 10,700 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights decreased four percent and registered foreign bed nights increased three percent. In total, registered bed nights decreased three percent from last year's August.

34,300 nights (+3.2 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 18,800 nights (-12.6 %) by business visitors.

Between January and August, 348,000 registered bed nights (+9.2 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 55,800 (-1.3 %) for foreigners in Oulu, in total 403,000 (+7.6 %) registered nights.

Market share 2.3 percent

Total of 2.3 million registered bed nights (-0.4 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 1.7 million nights (-2.9 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 604,000 nights (+7.5 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Oulu out of total registered bed nights was 2.3 % (-0.1 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 2.5 % and foreign bed nights 1.8 %.

34,100 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased less than one percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 84.2 percent were domestic, and 15.8 percent were from foreign countries.

During August, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Oulu on average 1.5 nights (-0.05) and foreigners 2.0 nights (-0.1).

19,800 air travelers

The airport received a total of 19,800 passengers, which means air passenger arrivals decreased 27 percent.

Of local passengers, 7.5 % arrived from abroad, thus the share of domestic passengers was 92.5 %.

In addition, there were 20,700 passengers departing the airport (-27.9 %), therefore the total number of trips via the airport was 40,500 (-27.6 %).

Accommodation sales 3.9 million euro

Total accommodation sales in August were 3.9 million euro (-227,000). The share of Airbnb and Vrbo was 11.4 percent. Therefore, registered accommodation sales were 3.5 million euro (-201,000) and non-registered sales 452,000 euro (-26,100).

Total January-August sales were 30.4 million euro and they increased 3.9 million euro from the previous year.
