52,300 registered bed nights

In August 2020, 52,300 registered bed nights were recorded in Oulu (-10.6 %), of which 46,300 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 6,000 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights decreased less than one percent and registered foreign bed nights decreased 50 percent. In total, registered bed nights decreased 11 percent from last year's August.

34,100 nights (+1.2 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 18,200 nights (-26.6 %) by business visitors.

Between January and August, 262,000 registered bed nights (-28.6 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 47,700 (-40.4 %) for foreigners in Oulu, in total 310,000 (-30.7 %) registered nights.

Market share 3.1 percent

Total of 1.7 million registered bed nights (-30.7 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 1.5 million nights (-6.3 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 149,000 nights (-81.0 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Oulu out of total registered bed nights was 3.1 % (+0.7 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 3.0 % and foreign bed nights 4.0 %.

31,700 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased 12 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 92.3 percent were domestic, and 7.7 percent were from foreign countries.

During August, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Oulu on average 1.6 nights (0.0) and foreigners 2.5 nights (+0.64).

11,600 air travelers

The airport received a total of 11,600 passengers, which means air passenger arrivals decreased 71 percent.

Of local passengers, 0.1 % arrived from abroad, thus the share of domestic passengers was 99.9 %.

In addition, there were 12,100 passengers departing the airport (-71.0 %), therefore the total number of trips via the airport was 23,600 (-70.9 %).

Accommodation sales 2.9 million euro

Total accommodation sales in August were 2.9 million euro (-809,000). The share of Airbnb and Vrbo was 10.1 percent. Therefore, registered accommodation sales were 2.6 million euro (-765,000) and non-registered sales 298,000 euro (-43,900).

Total January-August sales were 18.1 million euro and they decreased 9.7 million euro from the previous year.
