Registered bed nights increased 19 percent

In July 2021, 98,800 registered bed nights were recorded in Oulu (+19.5 %), of which 91,900 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 6,900 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 42 percent and registered foreign bed nights decreased 62 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 19 percent from last year's July.

81,100 nights (+15.7 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 17,700 nights (+40.7 %) by business visitors.

Between January and July, 279,000 registered bed nights (+29.4 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 14,900 (-64.2 %) for foreigners in Oulu, in total 294,000 (+14.2 %) registered nights.

Market share 2.9 percent

Total of 3.4 million registered bed nights (+30.4 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 3.2 million nights (+30.3 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 188,000 nights (+32.2 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Oulu out of total registered bed nights was 2.9 % (-0.3 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 2.9 % and foreign bed nights 3.7 %.

60,700 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 30 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 95.4 percent were domestic, and 4.6 percent were from foreign countries.

During July, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Oulu on average 1.6 nights (+0.05) and foreigners 2.5 nights (-1.4).

12,600 air travelers

The airport received a total of 12,600 passengers, which means air passenger arrivals increased 53 percent.

Of local passengers, 0.1 % arrived from abroad, thus the share of domestic passengers was 99.9 %.

In addition, there were 11,800 passengers departing the airport (+50.4 %), therefore the total number of trips via the airport was 24,400 (+51.5 %).

Accommodation sales 5.5 million euro

Total accommodation sales in July were 5.5 million euro (+1.7 million). The share of Airbnb and Vrbo was 10.1 percent. Therefore, registered accommodation sales were 5.0 million euro (+1.5 million) and non-registered sales 557,000 euro (+114,000).

Total January-July sales were 16.9 million euro and they increased 1.7 million euro from the previous year.
