15,900 registered bed nights

In March 2021, 15,900 bed nights were recorded in Päijät-Häme (-15.7 %), of which 15,400 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 480 nights by foreigners. Domestic bed nights decreased four percent and foreign bed nights decreased 83 percent. In total, bed nights decreased 16 percent from last year's March.

Most foreign bed nights were recorded for travelers from Italy (166 nights).

12,100 nights (+54.1 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 3,800 nights (-65.5 %) by business visitors.

Between January and March, 56,600 bed nights (-32.0 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 6,000 (-69.2 %) for foreigners in Päijät-Häme, in total 62,600 (-39.0 %) nights.

6,300 registered bed nights (Lahti)

In March 2021, 6,300 bed nights were recorded in Lahti (-32.8 %), of which 5,800 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 460 nights by foreigners. Domestic bed nights decreased 15 percent and foreign bed nights decreased 81 percent. In total, bed nights decreased 33 percent from last year's March.

Most foreign bed nights were recorded for travelers from Italy (166 nights).

3,100 nights (+22.6 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 3,200 nights (-53.2 %) by business visitors.

Between January and March, 24,400 bed nights (-34.8 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 5,600 (-57.1 %) for foreigners in Lahti, in total 30,000 (-40.6 %) nights.

Total of 863,000 bed nights (-13.3 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 816,000 nights (+11.7 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 47,500 nights (-82.1 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Päijät-Häme out of total bed nights was 1.8 % (-0.1 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 1.9 % and foreign bed nights 1.0 %.

6,000 tourists arrived to accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased 38 percent compared to earlier year. Of all arrivals, 97.8 percent were domestic, and 2.2 percent were from foreign countries.

During March, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Päijät-Häme on average 2.6 nights (+0.8) and foreigners 3.7 nights (+0.58).

Accommodation sales 1.5 million euro

Total accommodation sales in March were 1.5 million euro (+35,300). The share of Airbnb and Vrbo was 51.5 percent. Therefore, registered accommodation sales were 723,000 euro (-325,000) and non-registered sales 766,000 euro (+359,000).

Total January-March sales were 4.7 million euro and they decreased 2.3 million euro from the previous year.
