41,300 bed nights in paid accommodation
Total of 41,300 bed nights (+38.1 %) were recorded in paid accommodation in Päijät-Häme in December 2021. This figure includes bed nights at registered establishments as well as at AirBnB and Vrbo. The share of registered bed nights was 72 % and non-registered 28 %.
Between January and December, the number of paid bed nights was 638,000 (+16.1 %). Share of registered was 72 % and non-registered 28 %.
Registered bed nights statistics include stats for registered accommodations: hotels, motels, guest houses, hostels, holiday villages and campsites. Establishments with fewer than 20 beds or caravan lots with an electrical connection point are excluded. Non-registered bed nights statistics include bed nights from AirBnB and Vrbo.
Registered bed nights increased 78 percent
In December 2021, 29,700 registered bed nights were recorded in Päijät-Häme (+77.9 %), of which 27,900 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 1,800 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 77 percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 96 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 78 percent from last year's December.
18,600 nights (+61.9 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 11,100 nights (+113.2 %) by business visitors.
Between January and December, 429,000 registered bed nights (+31.6 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 28,300 (-18.0 %) for foreigners in Päijät-Häme, in total 457,000 (+26.9 %) registered nights.

Registered bed nights increased 107 percent (Lahti)
In December 2021, 15,600 registered bed nights were recorded in Lahti (+107.0 %), of which 14,400 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 1,200 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 107 percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 112 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 107 percent from last year's December.
6,000 nights (+68.2 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 9,600 nights (+142.1 %) by business visitors.
Between January and December, 174,000 registered bed nights (+34.9 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 19,500 (-11.1 %) for foreigners in Lahti, in total 194,000 (+28.2 %) registered nights.

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 154 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 95.4 percent were domestic, and 4.6 percent were from foreign countries.
During December, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Päijät-Häme on average 1.9 nights (-0.86) and foreigners 2.4 nights (+0.06).

Accommodation sales 1.9 million euro
Total accommodation sales in December were 1.9 million euro (+597,000). The share of Airbnb and Vrbo was 22.7 percent. Therefore, registered accommodation sales were 1.5 million euro (+797,000) and non-registered sales 442,000 euro (-201,000).
Total January-December sales were 29.0 million euro and they increased 4.3 million euro from the previous year.
