Registered bed nights increased 11 percent

In December 2021, 3,500 registered bed nights were recorded in Pajala (+10.6 %), of which 940 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 2,500 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights decreased 26 percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 35 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 11 percent from last year's December.

Most foreign registered bed nights were recorded for travelers from Belgium (2,000 nights).

1,300 rooms (+29.0 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 750 rooms (+58.9 %) by business visitors.

Between January and December, 22,500 registered bed nights (-9.5 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 12,500 (-30.8 %) for foreigners in Pajala, in total 35,100 (-18.5 %) registered nights.

Market share 0.1 percent

Total of 3.4 million registered bed nights (+85.2 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 2.8 million nights (+74.9 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 553,000 nights (+166.0 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Pajala out of total registered bed nights was 0.1 % (-0.1 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 0.0 % and foreign bed nights 0.5 %.

2,000 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 99 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 30.4 percent were domestic, and 69.6 percent were from foreign countries.

During December, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Pajala on average 1.5 nights (-0.88) and foreigners 1.8 nights (-2.0).
