5,400 registered bed nights

In March 2020, 5,400 bed nights were recorded in Pajala (-9.5 %), of which 1,300 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 4,100 nights by foreigners. Domestic bed nights decreased six percent and foreign bed nights decreased 11 percent. In total, bed nights decreased 10 percent from last year's March.

1,900 rooms (-19.8 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 630 rooms (+11.5 %) by business visitors.

Between January and March, 4,200 bed nights (+9.8 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 13,600 (+1.0 %) for foreigners in Pajala, in total 17,800 (+2.9 %) nights.

Market share 0.2 percent

Total of 2.8 million bed nights (-37.8 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 2.4 million nights (-33.7 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 405,000 nights (-54.3 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Pajala out of total bed nights was 0.2 % (+0.1 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 0.1 % and foreign bed nights 1.0 %.

1,600 tourists arrived to accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased 18 percent compared to earlier year. Of all arrivals, 30.7 percent were domestic, and 69.3 percent were from foreign countries.

During March, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Pajala on average 2.7 nights (+0.76) and foreigners 3.7 nights (-0.08).

Registered accommodation sales in March were 2.6 million SEK (-593,000).

Registered January-March sales were 8.8 million SEK and they decreased 435,000 euro from the previous year.
