Registered bed nights increased 21 percent
In December 2019, 4,600 bed nights were recorded in Pajala (+21.1 %), of which 1,200 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 3,400 nights by foreigners. Domestic bed nights decreased 18 percent and foreign bed nights increased 47 percent. In total, bed nights increased 21 percent from last year's December.
1,800 rooms (+40.8 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 520 rooms (-24.1 %) by business visitors.
Between January and December, 23,300 bed nights (+11.5 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 34,200 (+50.4 %) for foreigners in Pajala, in total 57,500 (+31.7 %) nights.
Registered bed nights statistics include stats for registered accommodations: hotels, holiday villages, youth hostels, campsites, and commercially arranged rentals in private cottages and apartments. Establishments with fewer than 9 beds or 5 rooms are excluded.

1,500 tourists arrived to accommodation
Arrivals to registered accommodation increased eight percent compared to earlier year. Of all arrivals, 36.5 percent were domestic, and 63.5 percent were from foreign countries.
During December, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Pajala on average 2.3 nights (+0.14) and foreigners 3.7 nights (+0.11).

Registered accommodation sales in December were 2.4 million SEK (+343,000).
Registered January-December sales were 27.2 million SEK and they increased 8.2 million euro from the previous year.
