Paid bed nights

Registered bed nights increased 27 percent

In December 2018, 3,800 registered bed nights were recorded in Pajala (+27.0 %), of which 1,500 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 2,300 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 48 percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 17 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 27 percent from last year's December.

1,200 rooms (+6.6 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 650 rooms (+39.4 %) by business visitors.

Between January and December, 20,900 registered bed nights (+26.0 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 22,700 (+28.9 %) for foreigners in Pajala, in total 43,700 (+27.5 %) registered nights.

Total of 3.4 million registered bed nights (+1.7 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 2.7 million nights (+1.3 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 787,000 nights (+3.2 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Pajala out of total registered bed nights was 0.1 % (0.0 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 0.1 % and foreign bed nights 0.3 %.

Length of stay increased 34 percent in registered accommodation

Length of stay in registered accommodation increased 34 percent compared to earlier year. In Pajala, length of stay in December was on average 3.1 nights and in Sweden 2.1 nights (-0.1 %).

During December, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Pajala on average 2.3 nights (-10.8 %) and foreigners 4.0 nights (+4.1 %).

1,200 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased five percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 52.4 percent were domestic, and 47.6 percent were from foreign countries.

During December, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Pajala on average 2.3 nights (+0.73) and foreigners 4.0 nights (+0.96).
