Paid bed nights

Registered bed nights increased 19 percent

In August 2019, 6,200 registered bed nights were recorded in Pajala (+18.8 %), of which 3,100 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 3,100 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased five percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 36 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 19 percent from last year's August.

Most foreign registered bed nights were recorded for travelers from Finland (780 nights).

1,300 rooms (+20.3 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 520 rooms (-5.6 %) by business visitors.

Between January and August, 16,900 registered bed nights (+14.4 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 27,900 (+50.0 %) for foreigners in Pajala, in total 44,800 (+34.3 %) registered nights.

Market share 0.1 percent

Total of 8.9 million registered bed nights (+3.6 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 6.1 million nights (+4.0 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 2.8 million nights (+3.0 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Pajala out of total registered bed nights was 0.1 % (0.0 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 0.1 % and foreign bed nights 0.1 %.

Length of stay increased four percent in registered accommodation

Length of stay in registered accommodation increased four percent compared to earlier year. In Pajala, length of stay in August was on average 2.3 nights and in Sweden 2.2 nights (+0.4 %).

During August, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Pajala on average 2.5 nights (+31.0 %) and foreigners 2.1 nights (+2.1 %).

2,700 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 14 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 45.2 percent were domestic, and 54.8 percent were from foreign countries.

During August, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Pajala on average 2.5 nights (+0.43) and foreigners 2.1 nights (-0.28).
