1,400 registered bed nights

In May 2020, 1,400 registered bed nights were recorded in Pajala (-37.3 %), of which 1,300 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 132 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights decreased 29 percent and registered foreign bed nights decreased 71 percent. In total, registered bed nights decreased 37 percent from last year's May.

110 rooms (-82.3 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 500 rooms (+47.6 %) by business visitors.

Between January and May, 6,700 registered bed nights (-3.2 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 14,000 (-9.7 %) for foreigners in Pajala, in total 20,700 (-7.7 %) registered nights.

Total of 2.2 million registered bed nights (-58.0 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 2.1 million nights (-49.2 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 176,000 nights (-86.2 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Pajala out of total registered bed nights was 0.1 % (0.0 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 0.1 % and foreign bed nights 0.1 %.

Length of stay was 2.8 nights in registered accommodation

Length of stay in registered accommodation decreased 31 percent compared to earlier year. In Pajala, length of stay in May was on average 2.8 nights and in Sweden 2.4 nights (+30.7 %).

During May, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Pajala on average 2.8 nights (+47.0 %) and foreigners 3.9 nights (+2.8 %).

Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased nine percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 93.3 percent were domestic, and 6.7 percent were from foreign countries.
