In January 2018, 1,900 registered bed nights were recorded in Pieksämäki Region (-2.3 %), of which 1,300 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 620 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased five percent and registered foreign bed nights decreased 14 percent. In total, registered bed nights decreased two percent from last year's January.
Most foreign registered bed nights were recorded for travelers from Russia (550 nights).
1,100 nights (-10.5 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 790 nights (+11.9 %) by business visitors.
Registered bed nights statistics include stats for registered accommodations: hotels, motels, guest houses, hostels, holiday villages and campsites. Establishments with fewer than 20 beds or caravan lots with an electrical connection point are excluded.

Length of stay increased eight percent in registered accommodation
Length of stay in registered accommodation increased eight percent compared to earlier year. In Pieksämäki Region, length of stay in January was on average 2.0 nights and in Finland 2.0 nights (-0.3 %).
During January, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Pieksämäki Region on average 1.6 nights and foreigners 3.2 nights .
970 tourists arrived to registered accommodation
Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased nine percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 80.2 percent were domestic, and 19.8 percent were from foreign countries.
During January, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Pieksämäki Region on average 1.6 nights (+0.25) and foreigners 3.2 nights (-0.51).
