Registered bed nights increased 40 percent
In March 2018, 3,800 registered bed nights were recorded in Pieksämäki Region (+40.3 %), of which 3,400 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 460 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 32 percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 150 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 40 percent from last year's March.
1,700 nights (+24.1 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 2,100 nights (+57.2 %) by business visitors.
Between January and March, 6,900 registered bed nights (+5.3 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 1,300 (-1.1 %) for foreigners in Pieksämäki Region, in total 8,300 (+4.2 %) registered nights.
Registered bed nights statistics include stats for registered accommodations: hotels, motels, guest houses, hostels, holiday villages and campsites. Establishments with fewer than 20 beds or caravan lots with an electrical connection point are excluded.

Length of stay increased 14 percent in registered accommodation
Length of stay in registered accommodation increased 14 percent compared to earlier year. In Pieksämäki Region, length of stay in March was on average 2.1 nights and in Finland 2.0 nights (-0.6 %).
During March, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Pieksämäki Region on average 2.0 nights (+10.3 %) and foreigners 4.0 nights (-1.9 %).
1,800 tourists arrived to registered accommodation
Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 23 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 93.6 percent were domestic, and 6.4 percent were from foreign countries.
During March, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Pieksämäki Region on average 2.0 nights (+0.19) and foreigners 4.0 nights (+1.0).
