12,000 registered bed nights

In October 2019, 12,000 bed nights were recorded in Pielinen Karelia Region (-0.2 %), of which 11,400 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 630 nights by foreigners. Domestic bed nights increased five percent and foreign bed nights decreased 48 percent. In total, bed nights decreased less than one percent from last year's October.

9,700 nights (-2.0 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 2,400 nights (+8.1 %) by business visitors.

Between January and October, 154,000 bed nights (+22.0 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 21,000 (+8.3 %) for foreigners in Pielinen Karelia Region, in total 175,000 (+20.2 %) nights.

Market share 0.7 percent

Total of 1.7 million bed nights (+7.1 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 1.2 million nights (+5.3 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 436,000 nights (+12.5 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Pielinen Karelia Region out of total bed nights was 0.7 % (-0.1 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 0.9 % and foreign bed nights 0.1 %.

7,300 tourists arrived to accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased five percent compared to earlier year. Of all arrivals, 96.3 percent were domestic, and 3.7 percent were from foreign countries.

During October, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Pielinen Karelia Region on average 1.6 nights (-0.1) and foreigners 2.3 nights (+0.49).

Registered accommodation sales in October were 618,000 euro (+71,400).

Registered January-October sales were 6.7 million euro and they increased 660,000 euro from the previous year.
