Registered bed nights increased three percent (August)
In August 2021, 23,300 registered bed nights were recorded in Pielinen Karelia Region (+2.6 %), of which 21,900 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 1,400 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights decreased less than one percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 77 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased three percent from last year's August.
20,700 nights (-0.1 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 2,600 nights (+31.2 %) by business visitors.
Between January and August, 132,000 registered bed nights (+35.3 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 3,300 (-39.8 %) for foreigners in Pielinen Karelia Region, in total 135,000 (+31.4 %) registered nights.
Registered bed nights statistics include stats for registered accommodations: hotels, motels, guest houses, hostels, holiday villages and campsites. Establishments with fewer than 20 beds or caravan lots with an electrical connection point are excluded.

11,400 tourists arrived to registered accommodation (August)
Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased 10 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 95.8 percent were domestic, and 4.2 percent were from foreign countries.
During August, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Pielinen Karelia Region on average 2.0 nights (+0.23) and foreigners 2.8 nights (+0.43).

Trips by Russian travelers over the eastern border increased 40 percent
A total of 33,400 Russians arrived in Finland over the eastern border crossings.
