Registered bed nights increased eight percent
In January 2019, 8,200 bed nights were recorded in Pielinen Karelia Region (+7.8 %), of which 5,600 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 2,500 nights by foreigners. Domestic bed nights decreased three percent and foreign bed nights increased 43 percent. In total, bed nights increased eight percent from last year's January.
Most foreign bed nights were recorded for travelers from Russia (2,000 nights).
78 nights (-98.7 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 22 nights (-98.7 %) by business visitors.
Registered bed nights statistics include stats for registered accommodations: hotels, motels, guest houses, hostels, holiday villages and campsites. Establishments with fewer than 20 beds or caravan lots with an electrical connection point are excluded.

Total of 1.5 million bed nights (+1.1 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 869,000 nights (+1.5 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 675,000 nights (+0.6 %) by foreigners.
The market share of Pielinen Karelia Region out of total bed nights was 0.5 % (0.0 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 0.6 % and foreign bed nights 0.4 %.
4,700 tourists arrived to accommodation
Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 10 percent compared to earlier year. Of all arrivals, 74.9 percent were domestic, and 25.1 percent were from foreign countries.
During January, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Pielinen Karelia Region on average 1.6 nights (0.0) and foreigners 2.2 nights (-0.65).
