23,900 bed nights in paid accommodation
Total of 23,900 bed nights (+6.6 %) were recorded in paid accommodation in Pielinen Karelia Region in February 2021. This figure includes bed nights at registered establishments as well as at AirBnB and Vrbo. The share of registered bed nights was 51 % and non-registered 49 %.
Between January and February, the number of paid bed nights was 42,700 (+0.4 %). Share of registered was 47 % and non-registered 53 %.
Registered bed nights statistics include stats for registered accommodations: hotels, motels, guest houses, hostels, holiday villages and campsites. Establishments with fewer than 20 beds or caravan lots with an electrical connection point are excluded. Non-registered bed nights statistics include bed nights from AirBnB and Vrbo.
Registered bed nights increased three percent
In February 2021, 12,100 registered bed nights were recorded in Pielinen Karelia Region (+3.0 %), of which 11,900 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 240 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 12 percent and registered foreign bed nights decreased 79 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased three percent from last year's February.
Most foreign registered bed nights were recorded for travelers from Netherlands (112 nights).
10,600 nights (+2.8 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 1,500 nights (+4.7 %) by business visitors.
Between January and February, 19,600 registered bed nights (+15.0 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 390 (-87.2 %) for foreigners in Pielinen Karelia Region, in total 20,000 (-0.5 %) registered nights.

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased one percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 97.0 percent were domestic, and 3.0 percent were from foreign countries.
During February, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Pielinen Karelia Region on average 1.9 nights (+0.08) and foreigners 1.2 nights (-0.96).

Accommodation sales 998,000 euro
Total accommodation sales in February were 998,000 euro (-138,000). The share of Airbnb and Vrbo was 33.4 percent. Therefore, registered accommodation sales were 665,000 euro (+101,000) and non-registered sales 333,000 euro (-239,000).
Total January-February sales were 1.7 million euro and they decreased 559,000 euro from the previous year.
