22,900 bed nights in paid accommodation
Total of 22,900 bed nights (-8.5 %) were recorded in paid accommodation in Pielinen Karelia Region in March 2022. This figure includes bed nights at registered establishments as well as at AirBnB and Vrbo. The share of registered bed nights was 58 % and non-registered 42 %.
Between January and March, the number of paid bed nights was 57,400 (-15.2 %). Share of registered was 53 % and non-registered 47 %.
Registered bed nights statistics include stats for registered accommodations: hotels, motels, guest houses, hostels, holiday villages and campsites. Establishments with fewer than 20 beds or caravan lots with an electrical connection point are excluded. Non-registered bed nights statistics include bed nights from AirBnB and Vrbo.
Registered bed nights increased six percent
In March 2022, 13,400 registered bed nights were recorded in Pielinen Karelia Region (+6.0 %), of which 13,100 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 230 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased five percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 270 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased six percent from last year's March.
Most foreign registered bed nights were recorded for travelers from Germany (58 nights).
11,700 nights (-0.2 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 1,700 nights (+87.0 %) by business visitors.
Between January and March, 29,900 registered bed nights (-7.0 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 730 (+61.2 %) for foreigners in Pielinen Karelia Region, in total 30,600 (-6.1 %) registered nights.

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 15 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 98.3 percent were domestic, and 1.7 percent were from foreign countries.
During March, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Pielinen Karelia Region on average 2.0 nights (-0.15) and foreigners 2.1 nights (-3.7).

Accommodation sales 1.1 million euro
Total accommodation sales in March were 1.1 million euro (+113,000). The share of Airbnb and Vrbo was 28.7 percent. Therefore, registered accommodation sales were 779,000 euro (+160,000) and non-registered sales 314,000 euro (-47,100).
Total January-March sales were 2.8 million euro and they increased 40,600 euro from the previous year.
