22,700 bed nights in paid accommodation
Total of 22,700 bed nights (+16.9 %) were recorded in paid accommodation in Pielinen Karelia Region in February 2023. This figure includes bed nights at registered establishments as well as at AirBnB and Vrbo. The share of registered bed nights was 55 % and non-registered 45 %.
Between January and February, the number of paid bed nights was 39,200 (+13.4 %). Share of registered was 55 % and non-registered 45 %.
Registered bed nights statistics include stats for registered accommodations: hotels, motels, guest houses, hostels, holiday villages and campsites. Establishments with fewer than 20 beds or caravan lots with an electrical connection point are excluded. Non-registered bed nights statistics include bed nights from AirBnB and Vrbo.
Registered bed nights increased 23 percent
In February 2023, 12,500 registered bed nights were recorded in Pielinen Karelia Region (+22.8 %), of which 12,000 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 520 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 21 percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 66 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 23 percent from last year's February.
Most foreign registered bed nights were recorded for travelers from Germany (230 nights).
10,300 nights (+13.0 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 2,200 nights (+105.8 %) by business visitors.
Between January and February, 20,700 registered bed nights (+23.7 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 750 (+50.9 %) for foreigners in Pielinen Karelia Region, in total 21,500 (+24.5 %) registered nights.

7,000 tourists arrived to registered accommodation
Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 33 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 96.6 percent were domestic, and 3.4 percent were from foreign countries.
During February, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Pielinen Karelia Region on average 1.8 nights (-0.15) and foreigners 2.2 nights (-0.48).

Accommodation sales 1.2 million euro
Total accommodation sales in February were 1.2 million euro (+210,000). The share of Airbnb and Vrbo was 30.2 percent. Therefore, registered accommodation sales were 804,000 euro (+168,000) and non-registered sales 348,000 euro (+42,700).
Total January-February sales were 2.0 million euro and they increased 296,000 euro from the previous year.
