Pietarsaari Region: Tourism in a nutshell
Registered accommodation. All changes are relative to the same period a year ago.
Registered bed nights increased 99 percent (March)
In March 2022, 2,900 registered bed nights were recorded in Pietarsaari Region (+98.8Â %), of which 2,500 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 390 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 104 percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 72 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 99 percent from last year's March.
Most foreign registered bed nights were recorded for travelers from Germany (124 nights).
550 nights (-30.6Â %) were spend by leisure visitors and 2,300 nights (+253.2Â %) by business visitors.
Between January and March, 6,100 registered bed nights (+88.7Â %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 1,200 (+121.2Â %) for foreigners in Pietarsaari Region, in total 7,300 (+93.3Â %) registered nights.
Registered bed nights statistics include stats for registered accommodations: hotels, motels, guest houses, hostels, holiday villages and campsites. Establishments with fewer than 20 beds or caravan lots with an electrical connection point are excluded.

1,500 tourists arrived to registered accommodation (March)
Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 103 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 91.2Â percent were domestic, and 8.8Â percent were from foreign countries.
During March, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Pietarsaari Region on average 1.8 nights (+0.02) and foreigners 2.9 nights (-0.77).
