In January 2018, 2,500 registered bed nights were recorded in Pietarsaari Region (-25.8 %), of which 2,000 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 560 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights decreased 26 percent and registered foreign bed nights decreased 24 percent. In total, registered bed nights decreased 26 percent from last year's January.
1,000 nights (-53.4 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 1,500 nights (+27.6 %) by business visitors.
Registered bed nights statistics include stats for registered accommodations: hotels, motels, guest houses, hostels, holiday villages and campsites. Establishments with fewer than 20 beds or caravan lots with an electrical connection point are excluded.

Length of stay in registered accommodation decreased five percent compared to earlier year. In Pietarsaari Region, length of stay in January was on average 1.9 nights and in Finland 2.0 nights (-0.3 %).
During January, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Pietarsaari Region on average 1.8 nights and foreigners 2.4 nights .

Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased 22 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 82.1 percent were domestic, and 17.9 percent were from foreign countries.
