Paid bed nights

2,500 registered bed nights

In March 2018, 2,500 registered bed nights were recorded in Pietarsaari Region (-35.1 %), of which 1,900 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 550 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights decreased 35 percent and registered foreign bed nights decreased 37 percent. In total, registered bed nights decreased 35 percent from last year's March.

1,200 nights (-49.9 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 1,200 nights (-8.1 %) by business visitors.

Between January and March, 5,900 registered bed nights (-31.1 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 1,700 (-29.6 %) for foreigners in Pietarsaari Region, in total 7,600 (-30.8 %) registered nights.

Market share 0.1 percent

Total of 1.9 million registered bed nights (+5.2 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 1.3 million nights (+4.2 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 574,000 nights (+7.7 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Pietarsaari Region out of total registered bed nights was 0.1 % (-0.1 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 0.1 % and foreign bed nights 0.1 %.

Length of stay was 1.8 nights in registered accommodation

Length of stay in registered accommodation decreased nine percent compared to earlier year. In Pietarsaari Region, length of stay in March was on average 1.8 nights and in Finland 2.0 nights (-0.6 %).

During March, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Pietarsaari Region on average 1.7 nights (-4.4 %) and foreigners 2.7 nights (-29.7 %).

1,400 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased 28 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 85.2 percent were domestic, and 14.8 percent were from foreign countries.

During March, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Pietarsaari Region on average 1.7 nights (-0.13) and foreigners 2.7 nights (-0.73).

4,100 air travelers (Kokkola)

The airport received a total of 4,100 passengers, which means air passenger arrivals increased 17 percent.

Of local passengers, 37.9 % arrived from abroad, thus the share of domestic passengers was 62.1 %.

In addition, there were 3,600 passengers departing the airport (+8.4 %), therefore the total number of trips via the airport was 7,700 (+12.9 %).
