Pietarsaari Region: Tourism in a nutshell
2,200 registered bed nights
In January 2019, 2,200 bed nights were recorded in Pietarsaari Region (-13.2 %), of which 1,700 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 450 nights by foreigners. Domestic bed nights decreased 12 percent and foreign bed nights decreased 19 percent. In total, bed nights decreased 13 percent from last year's January.
790 nights (-24.5 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 1,400 nights (-5.2 %) by business visitors.
Registered bed nights statistics include stats for registered accommodations: hotels, motels, guest houses, hostels, holiday villages and campsites. Establishments with fewer than 20 beds or caravan lots with an electrical connection point are excluded.

Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased seven percent compared to earlier year. Of all arrivals, 83.1 percent were domestic, and 16.9 percent were from foreign countries.
During January, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Pietarsaari Region on average 1.7 nights (-0.12) and foreigners 2.2 nights (-0.17).
