Paid bed nights

2,900 registered bed nights

In April 2019, 2,900 registered bed nights were recorded in Pietarsaari Region (-9.9 %), of which 2,600 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 320 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased one percent and registered foreign bed nights decreased 53 percent. In total, registered bed nights decreased 10 percent from last year's April.

2,100 nights (+48.0 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 830 nights (-54.9 %) by business visitors.

Between January and April, 8,400 registered bed nights (-1.2 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 2,000 (-15.5 %) for foreigners in Pietarsaari Region, in total 10,400 (-4.3 %) registered nights.

Total of 1.6 million registered bed nights (+2.5 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 1.2 million nights (+4.3 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 356,000 nights (-3.4 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Pietarsaari Region out of total registered bed nights was 0.2 % (-0.0 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 0.2 % and foreign bed nights 0.1 %.

Length of stay was 2.0 nights in registered accommodation

Length of stay in registered accommodation decreased less than one percent compared to earlier year. In Pietarsaari Region, length of stay in April was on average 2.0 nights and in Finland 1.9 nights (-0.4 %).

During April, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Pietarsaari Region on average 1.9 nights (+0.5 %) and foreigners 2.6 nights (+1.5 %).

1,500 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased 10 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 91.7 percent were domestic, and 8.3 percent were from foreign countries.

During April, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Pietarsaari Region on average 1.9 nights (+0.12) and foreigners 2.6 nights (-0.56).

2,600 air travelers (Kokkola)

The airport received a total of 2,600 passengers, which means air passenger arrivals decreased 24 percent.

Of local passengers, 14.4 % arrived from abroad, thus the share of domestic passengers was 85.6 %.

In addition, there were 2,900 passengers departing the airport (-18.9 %), therefore the total number of trips via the airport was 5,500 (-21.3 %).
