In December 2019, 2,100 registered bed nights were recorded in Pietarsaari Region (-8.8 %), of which 1,800 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 340 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights decreased one percent and registered foreign bed nights decreased 36 percent. In total, registered bed nights decreased nine percent from last year's December.
1,200 nights (-8.1 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 950 nights (-9.6 %) by business visitors.
Between January and December, 35,600 registered bed nights (-0.8 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 10,300 (+10.9 %) for foreigners in Pietarsaari Region, in total 45,900 (+1.6 %) registered nights.
Registered bed nights statistics include stats for registered accommodations: hotels, motels, guest houses, hostels, holiday villages and campsites. Establishments with fewer than 20 beds or caravan lots with an electrical connection point are excluded.

Length of stay was 1.7 nights in registered accommodation
Length of stay in registered accommodation decreased 14 percent compared to earlier year. In Pietarsaari Region, length of stay in December was on average 1.7 nights and in Finland 2.0 nights (+1.9 %).
During December, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Pietarsaari Region on average 1.6 nights (-0.7 %) and foreigners 2.0 nights (-4.4 %).
1,300 tourists arrived to registered accommodation
Arrivals to registered accommodation increased six percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 86.5 percent were domestic, and 13.5 percent were from foreign countries.
During December, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Pietarsaari Region on average 1.6 nights (-0.13) and foreigners 2.0 nights (-1.2).
