Registered bed nights increased 31 percent

In September 2021, 4,400 registered bed nights were recorded in Pietarsaari Region (+30.7 %), of which 3,800 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 580 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 30 percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 32 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 31 percent from last year's September.

Most foreign registered bed nights were recorded for travelers from Germany (54 nights).

1,700 nights (-12.2 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 2,700 nights (+89.7 %) by business visitors.

Between January and September, 30,500 registered bed nights (+22.6 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 6,400 (+8.8 %) for foreigners in Pietarsaari Region, in total 36,900 (+20.0 %) registered nights.

Market share 0.3 percent

Total of 1.6 million registered bed nights (+29.2 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 1.4 million nights (+21.8 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 204,000 nights (+121.3 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Pietarsaari Region out of total registered bed nights was 0.3 % (0.0 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 0.3 % and foreign bed nights 0.3 %.

2,500 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 25 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 88.4 percent were domestic, and 11.6 percent were from foreign countries.

During September, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Pietarsaari Region on average 1.7 nights (+0.05) and foreigners 2.0 nights (+0.27).

360 air travelers (Kokkola)

The airport received a total of 360 passengers, which means air passenger arrivals increased 8,900 percent.

Of local passengers, 1.7 % arrived from abroad, thus the share of domestic passengers was 98.3 %.

In addition, there were 350 passengers departing the airport (+5,666.7 %), therefore the total number of trips via the airport was 700 (+6,950.0 %).
